Why oh Why

Last Thursday night I made a dessert, that calls for lots of chocolate chip cookies, for my January class birthday party. Well since Food Lion had them buy 1 get 1 free I made sure that I would have more than enough for the dessert. More than enough meaning that there was an entire package of these left behind.
And of course I have ate them ALL in the last 3 days. I guess I should be glad that I had the good sense to buy reduced fat. I am not looking forward to getting on the scale in the morning.

Snow Day

This is what we woke up to this morning:
It started snowing the minute we got out of school yesterday and hadn't stopped when we went to bed last night. It has now changed over to sleet and wintry mix.

We have gotten close to 6 inches. It is supposed to stay below freezing and sleet throughout the day. I am hoping that it is gone before the end of the weekend. I do not want to lose any of our spring break by them canceling school on Monday.

Show Us Your Life: Fashion Tips

Today @ Kelly's Korner is Show Us Your Life: Fashion Tips. I love clothes and shoes! And accessories! I usually try to stay away from trends and buy pieces that are going to last through more than one year. Each season I do buy a couple of pieces that are considered in. Today I'm going to share with you some of my favorite must-haves.

1: I could live in my Rainbow flip flops. In fact through the months of March to October I usually do. I have both a brown and a black pair.
2: My closet is full of solid colored shirt sleeve, 3/4 sleeve, and long sleeve tees. I use them for layering or just to wear with jeans or shorts. Green is one of my favorite colors to wear so I have pretty much every shade imaginable. Find a tee that fits you the way you want and one that will last wash after wash.

3: Khaki pants are a staple for me. The school I teach at does not allow us to wear jeans even on Fridays so I substitute khaki's for a casual feel.

4: These flats are from Target and I have 3 pairs of them. This metallic brown color goes with everything. I was so excited when flats became popular a few seasons ago because as a teacher it would be impossible for me to wear heels everyday.

5: I love earrings. Big ones, hoops, gold, silver... it doesn't matter. I have never been a huge fan of necklaces or bracelets so earrings are a great way for me to accessorize.

Hint Hint Hubs

Dear Hubs,

As I'm sure you are aware Valentine's Day is quickly approaching. I know that you always have such a hard time coming up with gift ideas for me so I decided to help you out a little. After perusing the Old Navy website I have found several things that would be a valuable addition to my closet (and yes, I know that it is overflowing into your side but honestly you don't even like clothes. Do you really need an entire side?).

Stripes are IN for Spring. Especially anything nautical looking.

I need a new short sleeve polo shirt and this watermelon color is really cute.

I
This dress looks so comfortable and would be great for work. Plus its only $15.00.
So Hubs I hope this will help relieve some of the stress I know you feel when it is time to buy me a gift. And to make you feel better I have a 25% off coupon for Old Navy that I can conveniently leave laying on the kitchen table.
Sincerely,
Your loving wife

Favorite Products: Weight Watchers Brand

I have been on and off Weight Watchers for a year now and have lost a total of 40 lbs. Weight Watchers is a great way to lose weight and eat healthier. You can each pretty much anything you want as long as you count the points for it (you have to have the points to eat though). Weight Watchers makes some great products to make your WW lifestyle easier and since I am all about convience I wanted to share some of my favorite WW products with you.

There are some really good SmartOnes frozen meals but the angel hair marinara is my favorite. I try not to eat too many of these meals because they have so much sodium in them.
SmartOnes also makes dessert products too. The chocolate chip cookie dough sundae is surprisingly delicious when you stick it in the microwave for a few seconds. It tastes just like cookie dough with chocolate syrup and vanilla ice cream.

You cannot beat the GIANT chocolate fudge bars for 1 point. They are really the best fudge bars I have ever tasted; and their HUGE!

I just tried these double chocolate muffins for the first time and was surprised with how tasty they are. Their pretty big too. I eat them for breakfast or sometimes as a afternoon snack. Warm it up in the microwave and its even better.

Move Over Vera

I have always loved Vera Bradley purses and bags. I have a closet full and usually get a new one every time she debuts her new patterns.
That was until I got:

My grandma got me this amazing animal print purse for Christmas. It is HUGE! In fact one of my friends says that 3 leopards had to die for my purse to be made. It has so much room and so many pockets. I have completely forgotten my love for all things Vera. (Well, until she comes out with a new cute pattern. I do not like any of the new spring line).

In the Mood for Love

We are ready for Valentine's Day at our house. Well, okay I am. I'm sure Hubs could care less.

I love putting out the Valentine Day flags. I just love all the pinks and reds. These flags match and then I have a different one near the road at the mailbox.

I purchased this heart wreath from AC Moore a few years ago. It still looks at good as the day I bought it and the best thing is that I only paid $3.99 for it.

I don't have as many Valentine's Day decorations since it seems to come and go pretty quickly.

He Loves Me

My husband has never been the romantic type. He wasn't when we dated and he isn't now that were married. That's okay since I am not the flowers and chocolate (well chocolate is accepted) type of girl. So when he showed me this on Saturday afternoon I had to take a picture and share with ya'll.

Isn't that sweet? Hubs works in security equipment distribution so he gets all excited about this stuff. We had a new panel installed on Saturday so when he set it up he had it display " I Love You Kelly".

The Bachelor Review

I know that I am a little behind but since I think DVR is the greatest invention ever; I never watch a show when it comes on. I have been addicted to The Bachelor for several seasons now and this one is proving to be no different.

Jake is such a cutie. In fact, he is almost too perfect. I love his smile and his eyes but I usually go for darker hair.

The girls this season are out there. I am so glad that Michelle is gone. I couldn't even bring myself to post that crazy girls picture. I love when one of the other girls said that she needed a therapist; not a husband.

Another one of my not so favorites is Vienna. I don't remember her causing so much drama on previous episodes but for some reason the other girls do not like her. I don't think she's very pretty. Something about her hair maybe.

My 2 favorites for this season are Ali and Tenley.

Tenley is a DOLL. Although I do wish she would get loud or mad at least once. I think she will be one of the last ones.
I really liked Ali from her one-on-one date with Jake. She did kind of get on my nerves last night when she was starting so much stuff with Vienna. I think shes really cute though and her and Jake would make a great pair.
Which girls are your favorites?

Weekend Wrap Up

I hope that everyone had a wonderful long weekend. I know that I appreciated the extra day off. Friday night Hubs and I went to my high school's basketball game. One of my students plays varsity basketball and my dad is the coach so we usually go to all the games. Saturday Hubs and I went to the YMCA and then had our date which was a movie and dinner. We went and saw Avatar and although it was way too long; I was surprised with how much I enjoyed it. The colors and special effects are amazing. After the movie we had dinner at On the Border. We shared fajitas and cheese dip and had mojitos and sangria. On Sunday we went to church and later that afternoon Hubs had a Brotherhood cookout so I went to mom and dads and ate dinner with them and watched Lifetime movies. Unfortunately Hubs didn't have Monday off so I went and had lunch with him and did a little shopping. The weather was so beautiful though (sunny and 60's) that I hurried back home so I could spend some time outside.

Weight Loss Update
I didn't lose any weight this week but I didn't gain anything either so that was good. Yesterday was the beginning of week 3 in our 5K training program. I am signing up for my first 5K ever at the end of this month. I know that I won't be able to run all of it or probably even half of it but I am excited about getting started.

Show us your life: Weight Loss Ideas

Today is Show us your life: Weight Loss Secrets and Ideas.
I love:

I think that it is a wonderful way to eat the right foods and not feel like you are depriving yourself.

I am a teacher so I take my lunch everyday. I really like some of the SmartOnes and Lean Cuisines. These frozen meals have a lot of sodium in them so I try not to eat more that 2 or 3 a week. I also eat a lot of sandwich's or take leftovers from the night before. My favorite fast food place to eat on Weight Watchers is Wendy's. I love to go and get a small chili and/or chicken nuggets when I need something quick.

I love to be active. Sports have always been part of my life and now that I have gotten a little older I still enjoy them. I have started something new for 2010. I have always wanted to run a 5K so a group of us have started a 13 week program that will help train us for this. And since I got an I-Touch for Christmas I downloaded Run Mate which is an app that keeps track with all my running sessions.

I thought I would share some of the things that have helped me lose weight:

1) I drink a ton of water. All day long.

2) Exercise with someone else. It keeps me motivated and I feel like I can't be the one to quit.

3) Keep low calorie snacks handy in case you get hungry.

4) Set mini-goals and always reward yourself.

5) Tell others about your goals. This will hold you accountable.

Book Post: The Time Travelers Wife

I just finished The Time Traveler's Wife yesterday. I really enjoyed the beginning of this book but the last few chapters got kind of confusing and difficult to get through. I do suggest adding it to your reading list if you haven't already.

I didn't go see the movie when it was out in theaters so I am anticipating the
dvd release in mid-February.
Has anyone else read the book or seen the movie?
If you have done both how do they compare?

Wrapping Up the Christmas Festivities

I promise that this is the very last Christmas post I am doing. We just do so many different Christmas parties and get-together that it takes forever to share them all with you. As you know after Christmas Hubs and I spent the better part of the week at the beach. On New Years Eve we left the beach and traveled to Hub's hometown so that we could do Christmas with Hub's side of the family. Friday evening we all went and ate here"
It was my first time eating at a Red Robin and I have to say that we were not the least bit impressed.

The kids enjoyed the statue of liberty though.

After dinner we went back to the in-laws to open gifts and enjoy some homemade desserts.

Eli seeing his big train set for the first time.

Lanie was so excited about her Barbie Glamour Camper. Looks like Eli liked it too.

The neice and nephews opening their gifts.

I just love his little face in this picture.

looking around to see if he has anymore presents

And of course Hubs and I always have to do a close-up.
We had such a wonderful Christmas this year. I am always sad to see the holiday season end. I am ready for spring and some warmer weather though.
