Your having a wedding shower in a bar?

This beautiful lady is getting married in 2 weeks.

In honor of Megan's upcoming wedding we hosted a dinner shower for her. And yes, it was at a local bar and grill. We're teachers... we get crazy like that.

Megan and I went to high school together but weren't really close because she was a couple of years ahead of me. We have now been teaching together for 5 years and I consider her a very close friend.

It was so much fun getting to hang out with some of the wonderful women that I work with outside of school. We had the best time gossiping and eating yummy food.

Megan got a lot of really great holiday decorations

I just love girl's nights out and getting to celebrate a wedding just adds to the fun.

Day 8: A Moment

Day 8 of 30 Day's: A Moment in Time
“Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure.” -Oprah
“I'd rather have a moment of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special.”
“What you need to know about the past is that no matter what has happened, it has all worked together to bring you to this very moment. And this is the moment you can choose to make everything new. Right now.”
“Life gives us brief moments with another...but sometimes in those brief moment we get memories that last a life time...”
“The next moment is as much beyond our grasp, and as much in God's care, as that a hundred years away. Care for the next minute is as foolish as care for a day in the next thousand years. In neither can we do anything, in both God is doing everything.”

Current Loves

I'm going to take another quick break from my 30 Day's posts just to mix things up a little. Here are a few things that I am currently obsessing over...

Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri nail polish in Night Flight. I've shared my love of Insta-Dri polishes before but its really the color that I'm digging this time. It looks dark blue in the bottle but it goes on black. Very cool for fall and it put me in the mood for Halloween.

The other night I needed to shave my legs something terrible. The dilemma was that I had plenty of razors but no shaving cream. Well since I am a sucker for buying anything that I have a coupon for I was able to dig out the razor pictured above. I used and it and fell in love. There is no need for messy shaving cream. The Intuition already has it included. It made my legs super soft too.

I am not a big coffee drinker but I try to be sometimes. I did find this Skinny Caramel Macchiato creamer that makes regular coffee taste delicious. Plus it's fat free. What could be better?

Day 7: Your Bestest Friend

Day 7 of 30 Days: Your Best Friend

My very best friend is Hubs.

We started dating when I was a sophomore in college. He's 2 years older then I am but we both decided to make the most of our college careers and took a little longer.
From the very first night I met him I knew that he was someone very special.
He has been there for me through everything over the past 8 years. I have never met a more amazing and less selfish person in my life. I long to love the way that he does.

We always have the best time together. He makes me laugh and smile like no one else can. He can also make me cry like no one else can.

You'll always be my BFF!

A girl's also gotta have a best girlfriend.
Meet Erin...

the sweetest, prettiest, funniest girl I know.
We have been best friends since we were knee high to a grasshopper (throw a little Southern in there for ya). I have shared every major event in my life with her. We went to jr. high, high school, and college together. We were in the same sorority. She was my maid of honor and I returned the favor 6 months later as her matron of honor.

I have so many pictures that I could post of Erin and I but it would take forever to go through them. There are ones of us playing with our Rainbow Bright dolls, at Cabbage Patch Land, Jr. High Dances, softball games, Homecoming's, Proms, Sorority functions, weddings, Christmas's, and a million other events that were made so much better because I shared them with her.

There is no doubt in my mind that we will be friends till the end of time.

Day 5: Your definition of Love

Sorry for the short break between the 30 Day's post. This particular post has really made me think and it wasn't something that I wanted to rush through.

Day 5 of 30 Day's: You Definition of Love
Wow, this is a hard one for me.
Love to me is: putting someone else above yourself at all times, its thinking about the person constantly, and being willing to give up anything and everything for them.

I would like to say that's how I love but it would be a lie. I am quite possibly the most selfish person in the world. I know that I have not loved my husband or anyone else in my life like I should. I believe that I show love when I'm nice to someone or go out of my way to make sure that they are okay. But thats not love. Anyone can be nice to someone. I'm nice to the guy that bags my groceries or the waitress that keeps my Diet Coke glass filled. That doesn't mean that I love them though. I have always had a problem with being nicer to the people that don't mean anything to me then I am to the people that I love with all my heart. It seems that if I have an issue or a problem then I will take it out on the ones that are closet to me. I try not to but I guess that old habits are hard to break.

So from this day forward I vow to love with all my heart. I vow to treat the ones that I love the most with respect and kindness that they deserve. The same respect and kindness that they have shown me.

I love this man!

He is the most amazing person that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.

Weekend Review and 500

This weekend was so much fun! Friday night my friend Lindsey and I met another woman that we work with at a new bar and grill for dinner. After dinner we walked to another place and listened to a live band.
Saturday Hubs and I headed up the mountain to spend the day in our college town of Boone, NC. We went to the football game but only made it through halftime because it was soooooo hot. The thing about Boone is that its either really hot or its raining and -2 degrees. Saturday day was a beautiful day but just a little to hot to be sitting outside in black t-shirts.

We played NC Central and whooped up on them. Even though Appalachian is a small school; we take our football very seriously.

Our band is huge too. They were so good. We stayed just to see both schools band. And if I thought App's was good then NCCU was amazing! They danced the entire time.

We had a great time. After we left the game we stopped by Outback on our way home. We also finished watching the Clemson and Auburn game. It was such a good game and I was glad that Auburn won. Not that I like them or anything but its impossible to be a Gamecock fan and ever cheer for Clemson.

Sunday we attended a dedication service for this adorable little man. Dax is my best friends little boy. He's 7 months old now and just the most precious little thing. After the service they had a bar-b-que lunch for family and friends.

Today's post is my 500th post. Wow, that seems crazy to think that I have shared that much of my life with ya'll. I can still remember being so nervous about starting a blog. It has been a great outlet for me and I don't plan on going anywhere anytime soon. So in honor of my 500th post I am going to do a giveaway. I'm not sure what it will be yet but check back and I'll have something soon.

Man or Woman?

Last weekend my grandmother's husband, Dalton, was in a Womanless Beauty Pageant. They have been married for 7 years and we love him to death. Keep in mind that Dalton is 87 years young. He is a tiny man. I swear I think he wears little kids clothing. The pageant was hilarious and we had such a good time.

Dalton's "talent" was hula dancing. He bounced around the stage. It was the funniest thing.

Dalton's female stage name was Dazzle Dazzle Ray.
Don't you just love his farmer's tan?

A few of the women in my family. We took up 2 tables.

Love my beautiful sister-in-law.

It was a great night spent with some of my favorite ladies; including Razzle Dazzle Ray.

Day 4: What you ate today

Day 4 of 30 Day's: What you ate today

Since I usually blog ahead of time I am going to list out what I am eating today.

Breakfast: Weight Watchers Chocolate muffin

Morning Snack: Sugar Free Jello Chocolate pudding (yes, I like Chocolate)

Lunch: Leftover whole wheat spaghetti with mushrooms

Afternoon Snack: 100 calorie pack Cheez Nips

Supper: Grilled chicken with organic spring salad and Fat Free Zesty Italian dressing

Well, this was what I was supposed to have for supper but I ended up meeting a friend for dinner at a local Mexican resteraunt. So instead of a healthy salad; I ate an entire basket of chips and salsa and chicken nachos (yummy)

Day 3: The Parentals

Day 3 of 30 Day's: Your Parents
My parents are the most influential and greatest people in my life.

They started dating in the 2nd grade. In January they will celebrate 36 years of marriage.
My parents were actually married twice. They got married the first time in September but didn't tell anyone. They didn't even live together afterwards. Their "real" wedding was already planned for January. My dad loves to tell the story that my mom was trying to break up with him and he told her that if she didn't break up with him that he would marry her so they drove to SC and got married.

I love my mom and dad more than anything and am thrilled that I am closer to them now then I have ever been. My mom is truly my best friend.

And I will always be "Daddy's Little Girl".

Day 2: First Love

Day 2 of 30 Day's: Your First Love

They say you never forget your first love. I don't know how true this is but it is something that will always hold a special place in my heart. My first love was a boy named Jerry in high school. I was in the 10th grade and he was a senior. We dated for almost 3 years. I ended up breaking up with him for another guy (scandalous, I know). Guess it worked out okay though because I dated that guy for 2 years. Jerry and I did try to work things out a few times when I was in college but all it had really been was childish love. We both got married within a month of each other and even though we live in the same town; I have only ran into him or his family a few times. I still have tons of pictures from that time but of course none are on my computer and I don't have access to a scanner so I will have to add some later.

Things I'm Currently Loving...

That scarves will be "in" again this fall.

I'm loving that it is almost time to start wearing jeans.

And I am definitely loving the new Carmel Frappes from McDonalds.

They are sooooo yummy!
I better stop "enjoying" these frappes so much or my jeans won't fit when it comes time to pull them out.

Long Weekend Wrap Up

I am so sad that this past weekend is over. I love 3 day weekends.
Friday night I went with my parents and my friends Lindsey and Tommy to our high schools football game. We lost (we're a really young team and not very good). It was still a lot of fun though.

Lindsey and I cheering on our students.
Saturday morning I went with mom and my 2nd mother (my mom's best friend) to Concord Mills Mall to shop.

We had a blast and I got a lot of really good deals. Including the coat below for only $14. It's from Old Navy and comes in a ton of colors. I got the charcoal just because I already have a brown and black coat. The best part is that it feels like a sweatshirt so it's super comfy.
Sunday I layed out with momma by the pool and then Hubs and I watched Why Did I Get Married Too? and Cop Out.

If you saw my post from yesterday then you know that I did a little hunting (lol, actually Hubs hunted and I read) on Labor Day. I also layed out by the pool some more (refreshed my summer tan) and had lunch with my family. I love lazy days like this!
