What I'm Loving Wednesday

I'm joining in on What I Love Wednesday.

This week I am loving:

the ceasar salad that I had last night at Mellow Mushroom and the fact that I have half of it left over for lunch today

(picture taken from Google Images)

I am also loving the new Cover Girl Lash Blash Fusion mascara. And better yet I had a coupon for it.

I am also loving the Sally Hansen Salon Effects. I finally broke down and used my Walgreens register rewards to purchase the cheetah print and I love them. They look great and were so easy to apply. I want to try the zebra print but everywhere has been sold out.

And of course I am loving that tomorrow is my last day of work before Spring Break!!!

4 days

This week is Spring Break for just about every school district in the USA except for ours. Maybe it just feels that way since all the counties surrounding ours are enjoying this beautiful Carolina weather while I am still sitting in my classroom looking at 18 beautiful, smiling children. Thank goodness we only have 4 days this week and then we are off Friday and all of next week!!! Bring on the sun bathing, books, and sleeping in.

Ten on Tuesday

This is my first time participating in Roots and Rings Ten on Tuesday. Here are this week's 10 questions. 1. If you work, do you drive to work or take public transportation? I drive. 2. How often do you get your haircut? Do you go to the same person every time? I usually get my hair cut and colored every 8 weeks. I try to go to the same woman but her hours are a little funny so normally when I am coaching I have to go to someone else. 3. Do you read the newspaper? If so, a hardcopy or the online version? I look at the newspaper every once in a while. My classroom gets a copy so sometimes I will pick it up. 4. What is the best book you have read this year? I read a lot so I've read several books this year that I would recommend. Some of my favorites have been The Help, Wench, The Kitchen House, and Water for Elephants. 5. What is the best movie you have seen this year? Not really sure. I'm not a huge movie fan. 6. Do you tend to crave sweet or salty foods? sweet 7. Do you eat breakfast every day? Slimfast, yummy 8. If you celebrate Easter, what Easter treat/candy are you most looking forward to? I love the Snicker Eggs. They are so much better then a regular Snickers. 9. How late is “sleeping in” to you? 9:30am 10. Where are you going on your next vacation? the beach

Curriculum Fair

School is winding up quickly. Okay, that's just wishful thinking. We still have until June 11th.

We have already started registering for the next school year though. Last year I got 2 upcoming 9th graders in my special education program. This year they told me that I will have 10 new 9th graders next year. Holy Cow! That is unbelievable. I am also the EC Department Chair and I was told that there are 35 rising 9th graders that are special ed.

Anyways, I got off on a tangent. The point of this post is to show you some pictures from the Curriculum Fair that our high school sponsored for the rising 9th graders and their parents.

My job would not be the same without these 2 ladies.

Each department was responsible for having a booth. This is part of History's.

Fine Arts

they had mimes.

and singing

the crafts that you see on the table are all things that my students have made as part of their projects

the English Department

Science had experiments going

Parenting and Child Development

Allied Heath and Medical Science

Yes, our redneck school still has Masonry and Construction

Physical Education

Math

Our high school also has a separate program called Early College where students can be accepted into it and they take a lot of online classes and if they stay in high school for 5 years then they graduate with their high school diploma and a 2 year associates degree from our local community college. The 5th year isn't spent on campus of the high school but instead all their classes are at the college.

The EC booth again

It was a great night to meet some of our new students for next year and for the upcoming freshman to see the school and what programs we have to offer.

You know me, the book worm...

Even if you just stumbled onto this blog seconds ago it won't take you long to figure out how much I love to read. I say all the time that I would rather read a book then talk to any one person. And the bad thing is that is pretty darn true. One of my teacher assistants that always sees me carrying a book asked me how many books I thought I read a in a year. I responded with, "Well, theres 52 weeks in a year, so I would say 45 to 50 books a year". In the summer I can usually read a book in 2 days or less. When I was 12 I read Black Beauty in one day and Little Women in 4 hours. I have always been the kid with my nose in a book.

So imagine my excitement when I came across the Goodreads website. This website is like a facebook for books. If you are a fellow book lover you need to check it out asap. Goodreads also sponsors all kinds of book giveaways that you can enter to win for free.

Which is how I became the lucky recipient of this:

It is a signed copy of Diane Chamberlain's Keeper of the Light. And I won it! I cannot wait to read it. I have been a huge fan of her's since I picked up Summer's Child last year.

I seriously carried this book around for a day trying to show anyone that would listen to me go on and on about how cool it was that she had signed it. Don't worry, I'm totally okay with being a nerd.

Weekend Review

Friday afternoon my softball team won 11 to 3. One of my freshman players had a grandslam. She has hit a out of the park homerun in all our games but one so far this season.

Saturday we did a little shopping and that night we watched the basketball games. I was wanting VCU and Kentucky to be in the final game but both of them lost. I am certainly pulling for Butler now.

Sunday my best friend, Erin, had her baby shower. She is having a little girl in June.

me, Sarah, and Erin. We were all really good friends in high school but now that we're older we don't get to see Sarah as much.

Daxter is Erin's little boy. He was born 7 weeks premature last February. He is the most precious thing in the world.

The weather was beautiful here yesterday so the men got out and enjoyed it..

And of course Hubs had to ruin a picture.
