What I Love About Me

I think as women we spend a lot of time focusing on the things that we dislike about ourselves. Usually these "faults" overshadow the wonderful qualities that we have. So I wanted to encourage all of us (myself included) to focus on what makes me...me. What better to begin then with making a list of what I love about myself.

1) I love my curly hair. Yes, even I can't believe that I am saying this. After years and years of fighting with my thick mass of natural curls I have learned to not only love them but appreciate them too. Unlike my fellow straight haired friends I can stand out in the rain without a hood and when my hair dries it looks just like it did before it got wet.

2) I love that I get a ton of freckles in the summer. Especially on my chest and shoulders.

3) I love that my nose is a little crooked. Hubs swears that I had to have broken it sometime in my life but I really don't remember doing it.

4) I love that I have a "little junk in the trunk" as my teenage students tell me.

5) I love my feet. I am not a weird foot person but I have pretty feet.

6) I love the color of my eyes. Hubs says they are the color of "baby s%*t" because they have a lot of gold or yellow in them.

7) I love that my skin tans so easily. I may pay for it later but for now I will enjoy it.

What are some of your favorite things about yourself?

Congratulations Erin and Dustin!

My best friend Erin and her husband welcomed their first child yesterday morning at 7:15. His name is Daxter Glenn and he was born 7 weeks premature. Erin and Daxter are both doing fine though. He weighed 4 lbs and 9 ounces and was 16 inches long. I will post pictures as soon as I can. I got to see Erin in the hospital yesterday morning but since Daxter is in NICU they are not allowing visitors in. I do have some pictures on my phone but have not uploaded them yet.

Weekend Review

This weekend was super busy. Friday after school we started our annual softball tournament that we host. (For my new friends, I am a high school teacher and coach volleyball and softball). The tournament starts on Friday afternoon and usually warps up around 9pm that night then starts back Saturday morning at 9 and the last game ends at 8pm. We always make a ton of money from hosting it and it is a lot of fun. This year the weather was BEAUTIFUL! It was sunny both days and in the low 60's which was a blessing since last weekend we were getting snow.

My wonderful friend and fellow coach, Lindsey and I working the gate.
After the tournament was over on Saturday night Hubs and I went to dinner with my parents and a friend. Sunday morning we woke up and went to church then had lunch at did a little shopping. It was such a beautiful day that we had to be outside so we went and hit softballs at the field. Afterwards we went for beer and nachos at our favorite Mexican restaurant.

How was your weekend?

Get to know you

This is my first time joining Keely at MannLand 5 with her Getting to Know You Sunday segment. Its really easy and fun. Each Sunday she posts questions that help us get to know each other a little better. So here goes...
1) How often do you wash or change your sheets?
I wash our sheets every Saturday. Its what my mom always did when I was growing up so it just stuck with me.
2) When is your birthday?
Novemeber 30th.
3) Have you ever meet a bloggy friend in real life?
no, I have not
4) Brad Pitt or George Clooney?
George Clooney, although he wouldn't be my first choice either. I am not a fan of Brad Pitt at all.
5) If you could change one thing about your body what would it be?
my eyes color. I have always wanted green eyes. My brother got green eyes but I have the yellowish brown color. Hubs calls them "baby poop" colored.
6) How often do you wash your hair?
I condition it everyday but I only shampoo it every other day.
7) Do you have pets?
yes, three dogs and some fish
8) How many social networks do you belong too? If you had to give up one which would it be?
Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter. I never get on Myspace and I am pretty bad at Twitter too although I am trying to be better. I am not sure I could live with out Facebook though.

Celebrity Crushes

Christine over at Sweet Sea did a post about her celebrity crushes and I thought it would be fun to post my own.

Bradley Cooper. He is just so funny and cute. I love his eyes.

Jeff Francouer. Athletes are sexy. Nuff said.

Shemar Moore. Yummy! Although I'm not liking that his teeth are prettier than mine. Actually he is just pretty all over.

Patrick Dempsey. I love how he always plays the good guy in movies.

Luke Bryan. (Country singer) He looks like the ultimate country boy; which is a big "like" for me.

Who are your celebrity crushes?

Favorite New Products

Here are a few of my new favorite things...
Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper. One of my teacher assistants brought me one of these last week and it was so yummy. It was like dessert in a bottle.

I had a coupon for this so I picked it up from Tar-J. It smells delicious and makes me feel like I'm sitting on the beach drinking a Pina Coloda.

Oops... how did these get on here? Girl Scout cookie season should fall right in between winter and spring. Caramel Delights are my favorite. I did not buy my own box this year since I am technically on a diet but I have begged a few off my friends.

V-Day and update

Happy Valentine's Day to you!

Hope you day is as sweet as can be

Thank you all so much for your prayers for my brother and our family. The hospital ran tests all day Friday and they all came back negative. They released him Friday afternoon saying that there seemed to be nothing wrong with his heart. This was after they told us all Thursday night that he had suffered a heart attack. We are so thankful that that was not the case but we are still very concerned that there is still something wrong. Hubs and I had taken my mom to the gym his was refereeing at so we were there when he passed out the second time. I have never seen anyone turn that gray before. It was the scariest thing I have ever witnessed. Please continue to pray for him. He is planning on getting a second opinion just to make sure that everything is really okay.

Prayers Please

Last night my 24 year old brother collapsed while refereeing a basketball game. He was taken to the hospital where the told us he had had a heart attack. He was stabilized and seems to be doing much better. A cardiologist was called in last night and they are running tests on him today. Please pray that the doctors will find out what is going on with him and be able to fix whatever has caused this. I will update as soon as we know something more.

Temptation comes in many forms...

This time it just so happens to be in the form of little shortbread hearts with red glitter.

Tuesday I went to WalMart on my way home to get things for my classes Valentine's Day party. In addition to the cupcake holders, sprinkles, cake mix, and drinks; I picked up these bad boys:

How sweet of me to buy my students cookies? I know. I'm just that type of person. I'm also the type of person that opened the bag of cookies on the way home and ate 11 of them. Yes, 11 cookies. In a span of less than 3 miles. I have no willpower. NONE!!!!

You've got Mail

Yesterday I came home and found a package from Old Navy sitting on my front porch.
Inside was the 3 shirts that I had ordered.

I am not crazy about this one. The color is not as pretty in person as it is online. I will probably take it back to the store and return this one.
After reading reviews on this shirt I ordered a size smaller than I normally wear and it fits perfect. I love the navy and white stripes.

This shirt is really cute. It fit great and I love the blue on the sleeves.

Extreme Home Makeover

Okay, maybe it isn't that extreme but we have made a few changes in our home decor.

This frame was a Christmas gift from my brother and sister-in-law. It has a picture of our family from their wedding last summer.

Before: master bedroom curtains
After: Hubs picked these out because when we close them they keep all the light out.

Before: Master bedroom bedspread

After: We got this new bedspread at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. We do not keep that throw on the bottom. It was just there for looks. I hate the ten million pillows that we have now.

Before: Living room curtains. (Sorry it is so hard to see)

After: like the bedroom curtains these new ones keep out a lot of light when we close them.

These are pictures of the hallway to our bedroom. I hung a picture of us with Hub's family and a picture of us with my family.

Before: Foyer table.

After: I got both of these frames for Christmas.
These were just little updates but I really think they have added a lot to our home. I still have several small projects that I would like to do but those can wait for now.

Super Bowl XLIV

(Google Images)
I am super excited about the Super Bowl. I am pulling for the Colts and Hubs is cheering on the Saints. Proof that we can never agree on anything. We are attending a party hosted by one of Hub's customers. I can't wait for some good food, cold beer, and the new commercials. And of course some great football.

Vs
Which team are you pulling for? Whats your favorite part of Super Bowl Sunday?

Good Ole Southern Gospel

Last Wednesday night our church had The Whisnants, one of Southern gospels best groups, come and sing for our camp meeting. It was so uplifting and just turned out to be an amazing night.

They sang a song titled "I'll Pray for You" that was exactly what I needed to hear. I have copied the lyrics for you below.

v1.I saw an old friend at the market, standing in the checkout line, she began to share her story, then I told her mine, it was clear we both knew heartache so before I turned to go, we made a simple promise, that would lighten both our loads

Chorus:I’ll pray for you, you pray for me, and together we’ll touch heaven from our knees, anything can happen in His name when we agree, I’ll pray for you, you pray for me

v2.What a privilege and an honor to know that God is there, and to have His full attention, any time and any where, sometimes when we’re talking, conversation turns to you, as your name and needs are mentioned, God lifts my spirit too

Aren't those words just beautiful? I feel like I am always praying for myself and my own needs. God will bless us because we pray for others.

Show Us Your Life: Beauty Tips and Products

I have done a must-have beauty post before but since Kelly @ Kelly's Korner has asked us to share our favorite products I thought I would do it again.

I know that I am only 27 but I still have dark circles under my eyes. To help hide them some I use Mary Kay's yellow concealer. I have been using it for years. Its also great for helping cover up the redness in unwanted blemishes. A tube will last forever since you only have to use a tiny dab.

Someone once told me that " a proper Southern lady always keeps her toenails painted". Since I consider myself a proper Southern lady I have always kept this rule. I also keep my fingernails painted most of the time. I love Ulta's nail colors. They have tons to choose from and at $5.00 each you can afford to buy as many as you want.

Another beauty staple for me is Clinques city-base foundation. It comes in a handy little compact and serves as my foundation and powder. I love the convenience of it and it hardly feels like your wearing anything at all.

I would have to say that my number one beauty products all deal with my hair. I am a natural curly-haired gal and lots of products just make my hair feel heavy and stiff. I LOVE the Aussie product line. I use their shampoo, conditioner, spray gel, and hair spray. Plus they all smell like the beach and who doesn't love that.

7 Years

Today Hubs and I are celebrating 7 years together. On February 4th 2003 Hubs asked me to "be exclusive". It was the sweetest and corniest thing I had ever heard but it was so him.

This was one of the first pictures we took together. (Sorry its so small. Not sure why)

On June 10, 2006 we said "I Do".

You have made my life so much better for allowing me to love you and loving me in return.

Celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary.

We always have so much fun together.
I love being with you no matter what we are doing.

Hubs, thank you for choosing me.
I love you!
