MIA

Hey ladies! I promise that I have not left for good. I have just been super busy with the school year ending and everything else. I will be back soon. My posting may be a little sporadic for the next week or 2 but I will try to do better. I have pics to post from last weekends wedding and I will try to get those on here soon. We hosted a BBQ and couples shower for my brother and his fiancee last night so I have some pictures from that too. The students have 7 days of school left and teachers have 2 weeks. Being an EC teacher requires a ton of paperwork and everything has to be closed out at the end of the year so it has kept me really busy. I promise I have lots of great things coming. Just stick with me.

Going to the Chapel (and the in-laws)

We have a wedding this weekend. This wedding. (If your new to my blog go back and read my post on the invitation we received for this wedding). The groom is one of Hub's fraternity brothers and we haven't met the bride yet. The wedding takes place in Hub's hometown which is 2 hours away from us. So I am picking Hubs up from work this afternoon and we are making the trek. We are staying with the in-laws (which I love, btw). The wedding is Sat. with a cocktail hour and dinner and dancing following. Seriously this wedding starts at 2:00pm and will not end until late that night. Not sure if us early birds will make it that long. It will be a ton of fun to see some of our college buddies that we haven't seen in what feels like forever. We will spend the rest of the weekend hanging out with family. Chris plans on fishing and playing golf all weekend and I plan on laying out in the sun, reading, and shopping. Sounds like the perfect long weekend. Both of us have Monday off from work so we won't be coming back until that afternoon.

American Wife

Let me start off by saying that I am not a political person at all. I loved George and Laura Bush and I could certainly see the connection with this books characters. While American Wife was somewhat difficult to read and was not a book that I was able to read as fast as I normally do; it was worth the time. A lot of the political jargon got on my nerves but other than that it was a great read. If you haven't read this book so far then make sure you add it to your summer reading list.

I am currently reading This Side Of Heaven by Karen Kingsbury. I have shared before how big of a fan I am of her books.

I am sure that this one will not disappoint.

Oh La La

A new season of the Bachelorette has started. And I am already hooked. These reality shows are a not so secret obsession of mine.

BTW, I love Jillian! I think she is so pretty and has a wonderful personality.

Now on to the men... Here are my favorites:

Jake. Isn't he adorable? My #1.

Kipton. My 2nd fav.

Mike. He is really funny. And boy can he dance.

David. He froze up and couldn't talk and still got the first impression rose. I like him though.

Not so sure about:

Sasha. He is cute and has a great accent but I am on the fence about him.

Got's to Go

Tanner P. His foot fetish is super weird.

Juan. His was acting slightly psycho last night. He just looks very serious to me.

Weigh In and Weekend Review

Let me start off by saying that I lost 1.2 lbs this week. While I am super excited about this loss I am also frustrated with myself. I have been posting these weigh-ins each Monday but I have not really talked about my weight loss journey any. So here goes:

Hubs and I started trying to have a baby in April of 2008. Each month I would eat as if I was eating for 2 when I of course was not. So month after month I started and kept gaining weight. It finally started to bother me in December. So right before Christmas I weighed in at 217 lbs. The largest I have ever been in my life. I did the low carb thing for about a week and lost 7 lbs. I gained one of those back. The first week of January I decided to make a change and started Weight Watchers. Since then I have done really well. When I got on the scale this morning I weighed in at 184.6. In 5 months I have lost 32.4 lbs. Which is great! I am very proud of myself and know that I have done extremely well. I can finally wear clothes that I have not worn in 2 summers. And they are getting too big. Which is the problem. Because of this I have become complacent. I have not been trying as hard and the scale and the way that I feel has reflected that. Take a look at the list below. These are places that I have ate just this week.

Wed. night- Chinese buffet with mom
Thursday night- Mexican
Friday night- Outback
Sat. night- fried fish at a fish camp
Sunday lunch- Chinese buffet with Hubs
Sunday night- dinner at Grandma's, chicken, sweet pot. casserole, cake, ice cream, noodles, bread

How in the world did I lose anything this week?

And I only got to go to the YMCA twice.

Softball is over for us so now I have my afternoons free which means I will be heading to the gym. My goal this week is to not eat out and stay on points. I can do this and I will continue loosing weight. My goal weight is 150-160 and I will make it there. I understand that the less weight you have to lose the longer it takes but I am in this for the long haul.

Weekend Review
Friday after school I met mom and Kirsten and we went shopping and to dinner. Hubs went to the dirt track races so we had all afternoon to shop. I purchased 2 Maxi dresses, one from Target and ones from Kohls. I have not completely decided on keeping the one from Target. I also got this top from Kohls.

Saturday Hubs and I spent the day together and then we went to dinner and Sams Club with my parents that night.

Sunday we went to Church and Sunday School and then I went to the YMCA while Hubs shot bows with one of his friends from church. We had a graduation party at my grandma's that night.

MIA

I know that it has been a few days since I last posted. We have just been so busy and I am so worn out. I am taking this weekend and resting so I promise to be back on Monday.

Also I am trying to finish up American Wife. It has been such a good book so far. I usually can read a book very fast but this one is a little more difficult to read so it is taking a little longer.

Party and Graduation Number 2

Now, onto Party #2 and my cousins graduation on Sunday afternoon. Which by the way was super boring and long. The party was lots of fun though. Great food and wonderful time spent with family.

Our extremely large family. This is not even half of them.

The graduate and his family.
Hubs and I with the graduate. Anyone else think that I look like a midget?

Looking out at his future.

Party Number 1

Now for the pictures from Party #1. This was Sat. night after Kirsten's graduation. These are just a few since I decided to be nice and not bore you all with 100 pictures of my crazy family.

Hubs and my dad. They did not have the same shirt on but it does seem that they always wear the same colors.

Kirsten and I

Some of the wedding party. All the guys are in the same fraternity. My brother is the one in the yellow. (Yes, it seems like we always dress alike to). Do you see the sky? It had just rained really hard for about 30 seconds.

Hubs and I enjoying the party

Dead and DONE

I have finished 1-8 of the Sookie Stackhouse series. Book 9 does not come out until sometime in May which also happens to be when the first season of True Blood (the HBO version of these books) releases. For older Twilight fans, this series by Charlaine Harris is great. In fact I am pretty sure that I liked it even better than Twilight. It is definitely more adult though.

Weekend Review

Monday morning weigh in was no fun this morning. I gained 1.0 lb. This weekend was horrible for eating. 2 parties and celebrating Mother's Day. UGH! This week we are very busy so dinner will be simple everyday. My goal this week is to walk at least 3 miles each day in addition to my regular cardio and weight training.

Weekend Review

Friday night we had our neighbors over for a cookout.

Saturday morning we drove up the mountain for Kirsten's graduations. It was short and sweet. Which was very nice. Here are a few pictures. There will be plenty more to follow.

Saturday night we had a party for Kirsten's graduation.

Sunday we went back up the mountain for my cousin's graduation party and then his graduation at 4pm. This was so long and had the worst guest speaker. After that we stopped and ate Japanese (hence the lb that I gained this week) for Mother's Day.

I got this shirt from Old Navy in a bright yellow.

All in all it was a wonderful weekend. We got to spend so much time with family. I have plenty of pictures from yesterday's graduation and both parties to share. I just didn't want this post to be 2 miles long.

College: Greek to Me

Continuing on with the college theme... let's GO Greek! My freshmen year of college my best friend and I pledged

(Phi Mu). It really added to the entire college experience. I met some wonderful girls and had some really great times. It also lead me to my husband who was a member of

We met through one of my sorority sisters that dated one of his fraternity brothers.

Here is a picture of us at my sororities semi-formal.

Us at a tailgate function.

I will try to post more pictures later.

College Football: Appalachian Style

Not only is ASU a wonderful academic school but it is also a great football school. For 3 years straight we were the Division I FSC National Champions. We have been the conference champions for 4 years running. I have spent to many Saturdays to count sitting out in the freezing cold watching the Mountaineers play football. Those were some of the best parts of college.

And what ASU fan can forget the Appalachian State/Michigan game. This cover of Sports Illustrated explains it all.

Or how about this reaction from the Michigan fans?

College: Meet ASU

This coming weekend is college graduation. Kirs and my cousin will both graduate from ASU this weekend. With this coming up it has gotten me thinking about my own college graduation and more importantly the best 4 years of my life. So this week I will be dedicating my blog to the wonderful world of college.

Let me introduce you to Appalachian State University. ASU is nestled along the Blue Ridge Parkway in the beautiful NC mountains.
