4 Days

This week is a 4 day work week for me. Spring break starts on Friday for us and then we have all of next week out. I am super excited about this.
The weather for the upcoming week also makes me very happy.
I will be laying out and getting some sun on Friday. Friday night we are going to the beach for a long weekend. Hubs has a part in the drama at church on Friday night but we will be leaving as soon as he is finished. Yay! I plan on having a very nice tan by the time I come home.
Now, I have a question for all of you. I've mentioned before how much I love to read and especially when I lay out but my dilemma is that I haven't came across anything lately that can keep my attention long enough to finish it. So ladies (and men for my few male followers) please share with me some of the books that you love and I will try to pick them up before my break.

Getting to Know You: March 28

1 - Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging as a way to keep up with what was going on in our lives. I have used it as an online scrapbook for my life.

2 - Who's the one blog friend that you would want to meet most in "real life"?
I really can't narrow it done to just one. I haven't met a bloggy friend in real life yet but I would love to meet as many as I could.

3 - Why are you always concerned with losing that "extra 10 pounds" when chances are your husband/boyfriend/friends tell you that you look just fine the way you are?
I would love to lose ten lbs and even more for myself. Not for anyone else.

4 - What's the one thing you wish guys could understand about you?
One of the things that I wish men would understand is that sometime women just get upset. If something is bothering me then I don't want you telling me how to fix it and get over it. Sometimes we just want to be "babied" and want you to be sympathetic and listen to whats wrong without having to fix it for us.

5 - Tattoos. How many do you have and how many are visible when you wear your "everyday" clothes?
I have 2 tattoos but neither are visible in everyday clothes.

6 - What was the best year of your life and why?
I would have to say that 2006 has been the biggest year of my life so far. That was the year that I got married and got my first real job as a teacher.

7 - Name three things you would do if you were a man for one day.
play football, pee outside, and be excited that I didn't have to shave my legs.

8 - What's your alcoholic drink of choice that usually raises a few eyebrows?
My drink of choice is beer. I like other drinks too but I'm not sure that any of them "raise an eyebrow".

Show Us Your Life: Cleaning Tips

This Friday is cleaning tips at Kelly's Show Us Your Life. I laughed out loud when I saw this because if you knew me or saw my house (or classroom for that matter) then you would never read a post from me about cleaning. For those of you that are familiar with my blog then you know I live a extremely busy life. I am a teacher and coach so there are many nights throughout the school year that I don't make it home until 8 or 9 pm. Trying to get food and a shower and a kiss from Hub's come before anything involving cleaning. Don't get me wrong. My house is not dirty... it's just not "eat off the floor" clean. In fact sometimes you may not even want to eat off the kitchen table. Since I am so busy all the time I will share a few of the things that I do to keep my house from being condemned.
1) I always put my clothes in the laundry room as soon as I take them off. That way my bedroom and bathroom floor won't become cluttered with clothes. To bad Hubs has not caught on yet.
2) I try not to leave dishes in the sink for very long.
3) I never leave dishes sitting around the house.
4) If you never cook then you never have any dishes to do.
5) I do tons of laundry on the weekend. I also try to do at least a few loads during the week.

I am ....

I saw this on several blogs and thought it was cute:

Outside my window.. the weather is beautiful.
The time is..7:57 am.
Today I feel..like being outside.

I am thinking..my softball game this afternoon.
At the moment, I am thankful..my wonderful family, Hubs, having great friends, and a job I love.
I am going..no where for a while. Now that I am at work I will be here till at least 8pm.
I am wearing.. black dress pants and cream top and my Amish hooker shoes (what my dad has nicknamed my heels).
I wish..I was outside sitting in the sun.
I am reading..Life as I Know It.
I am working on..paperwork for school.
I am hoping..that the weather will stay warm.

I am hearing..my lovely students talking as they come in my classroom.
Around the house...its quiet since Hubs and I are both at work.
I bet you didn't know.. I need to have my roots touched up. Already got a hair appt. for Spring Break.
One of my favorite.. things to buy is new nail polish.

Party through the weekend

On Saturday we headed up the mountain for our nephew, Eli's, birthday party. Eli will be 4 this week.

Hubs and I.

Our niece Lanie and her friend, Anna.

Eli blowing out his candles. His shirt was so cute. It says "will trade sister for tractor"

Hubs holding the pinata.

Eli swinging away.

Such a cutie.

Eli with his big present.

My father and mother in law.

We love getting to see our niece and nephew and it is so hard to believe that Eli is already 4 years old. After the party my in-laws and brother in law came down to stay at our house. We went to dinner and then I went shopping with my mother-in-law and brother-in-law.

Top 2 Tuesday

Today will be my first time ever joining The Undomestic Momma on her Top 2 Tuesday's. I am very excited about it.

Top 2 Things You Can't Live Without

1) Chapstick... I know that I could not live without this. I should buy stock in it.

2) Facebook... while I'm sure that technically I could survive without Facebook; it just wouldn't be very pleasant. I am addicted to reading and updating my statuses. I love keeping in touch with people that are far away or that I haven't seen in forever. It rates right up there with the invention of the wheel.

Motivation

I heard a teenage boy at school say, "Mrs. D is looking thick today".
Guess that is my cue to get back on the threadmill.
I came home and did over 2 miles.
I think this child is going to be my personal motivator.

Weekend Review

Sorry that my weekend review is a day late but as you can tell I have been slacking in the blogging department. I promise to get better.

Friday I was supposed to have a softball game but the weather postponed it so instead I stayed at school late and worked on some things in my classroom. Later that night we met my parents and brother and sister-in-law for dinner at one of our favorite local places. We came back to our house to watch some of the ACC tournament and I headed to bed early since I was still feeling bad.

Saturday we relaxed at home until about 3pm. We went to downtown Charlotte for dinner and to watch some more of the ACC tournament. We decided on Blackfinns American Saloon. The food wasn't that great but the atmosphere was nice and we had this for dessert:

This is not an actual picture of ours but it is the closest thing I could find on Google. It was called dessert sliders and it was 8 huge chocolate chip cookies put together to make 4 ice cream sandwich's with warm chocolate sauce for dipping. Delicious!!!
After the game was over and we had stuffed ourselves we met my brother and sister-in-law at the hockey game. We had great seats and there were lots of fights so it was a fun time.
Sunday we went to church and then had Mexican food for lunch. That afternoon we went to the movies to see Shutter Island.
It was pretty good. Kind of weird but I would say it is worth seeing. It really makes you question insanity and the way that people think.

This week is going to be very busy (it seems like I say that every week, which I probably do). I have 3 softball games including one this afternoon.

Shop till you drop

I mentioned in my last post that I went to my favorite store, Kohls, this weekend and got a few great spring/summer pieces. I figured I would share those with you.

I wear a lot of khaki shorts because of coaching so I usually get a good pair each year.

I got this bathing suit top. I already have a pair of black bottoms. It is a little longer than most tankinis so I'm not really sure how I feel about it. I may decide not to keep it.

I got this cute tee to wear with blue jeans or shorts.

This dress is adorable. Its not too dressy for me to wear to work but it will also work for church too. Plus I love anything that has a wide belt.

I love this ring!

Of course I had to get at least one piece of animal print.

Its hard to see the print on this tee in the picture but its really cute. Just something to wear on the weekends.
I also got a pair of black cargo pants that can roll up and be capris. I couldn't find a picture of them online though.
Have you bought any cute spring/summer pieces?

Weekend Review

Friday after practice I headed home to meet Hubs and then we met his best friend from high school at Buffalo Wild Wings. We had wings and beer and played the trivia games. Hubs and his friend stayed out later but I went on home since I was so tired.

Saturday morning I picked mom up and we went to our favorite place; Kohls. I got a lot of really cute spring/summer clothes that I will share later this week. After that we hosted the recreation basketball tournament and I worked in the concession stand. Saturday night Hubs and I went to our Alma maters basketball game with my brother and sister-in-law. They are playing tonight in the conference championship game.

Jeff and Kirsten

Hubs and I

sorry its almost too dark to see
Once we got home we watched Zombieland. It was actually really funny.

Sunday morning we didn't make it to church. We slept in and then cooked pancakes for breakfast. I finally got to watch The Time Travelers Wife and was so disappointed. If I hadn't read the book I would have had no idea what was going on.

I also washed 100 loads of clothes. Maybe not quite that many but it was a lot and I still have a ton of towels to wash. Since we are never home during the week the laundry had just piled up. I was running out of clean clothes.
This week will also be a very busy week for us. I have 3 softball games including one today.

Show Us Your Life: What is your typical day like?

A typical day in my life runs like this:

~ alarm goes off at 6 am, hit snooze once
~ shower and get ready
~ leave house at 7 am
~ drink Slimfast on the way to work
~ school starts at 8, teach 2 classes, planning period at 11:15 till 1:30, then teach one more class
~ softball practice from 3:15 to 5:30 or 6; or a game depending on the day
~ grab dinner on the way home; I rarely cook during softball season
~ finally get home for the day
~ wash a load of clothes and take a hot bath (I look forward to this part all day)
~ check facebook, watch a little tv, or read
~ kiss Hubs goodnight and hope that I'm in bed by 11 pm

During the months of February through June this is my life everyday. August through November is the same way except the sport has changed from softball to volleyball. I love coaching though so I don't mind all the time it takes. I also have a wonderful husband that supports me in everything I do and has never complained about my long hours away. In fact the first year we were married I coached volleyball, basketball, and softball and he jokes that we got through our first year of marriage so well because we never saw each other. Add in football, basketball, and baseball games and we are never home. But it works for us.

In the summer months my daily schedule differs a lot. Here is what a summer day would look like for me:

~ get up at 9am (or later)
~ shower, pull hair into a ponytail
~ gym
~ put on bathing suit, grab a book, and lay out at the pool
~ possibly have an open gym for volleyball
~ dinner
~ spend some time with Hubs
~ tv and bed

Spring Shopping

I have never been so ready for warm weather. Even in the Carolina's we have had below average temperatures since December. There's nothing like getting you in the mood for the next season then shopping. Below are some of the reasons that I am impatient for Spring to get here.

My mom picked this dress up at Target for me. It was less than $20. Although its a little too short for me to wear to work; I'm sure I will gets lots of wear out of it over the summer.

How cute will these sandals be with the dress above! I picked these darlings up at Old Navy. After a 30% of coupon I only paid $19.00 for them.

This cute top is from Forever 21 for $13.00.

This navy ruffle top is also Old Navy. It was a steal at $8.00.

I got this purple sheer blouse from Kohls for only $24.99.

I was worried that my love for animal print would have to end with warmer weather but alas it can continue. This shirt is from Kohls and was only $11.
