What Matters Most

I know that I said I was taking a break from blogging and I am but I wanted to share something that was in my work email. I logged into my work email this morning since I hadn't checked it in awhile and had an email devotion from Extraordinary Women which is a Christian conference that I attended a few years ago.

"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:21

Food. Alcohol. An affair. Shopping. Exercise. Obsessions with hobbies or a job. Too often, instead of looking to God and the relationships He’s placed in our lives, we look to other things to fill the emptiness and ease the confusion we feel. But how well we live hinges entirely on our ability to develop healthy relationships with others.

And herein lies the secret to making every day count. To focus on what matters most – time with God and those we love. This is incredibly difficult to do in a world that values anything but intimacy with others. Wealth. Beauty. Fame. The decision to focus on our relationships—with God and others—is directly at odds with what society values.

If relationships with God and others are what matter most in life, we need to ask ourselves what we’re doing to strengthen these closest relationships. Often, we’re so caught up in life that we inadvertently put our connections with others on autopilot, hoping that the relationships will still be intact when life settles down a bit. Because life rarely settles down, we can go weeks, months, and even years without investing time in the people we love most.

Where is your heart? Is it trapped by the human desire to store up treasure in this world? Or do you focus on people the way Jesus did when He was here on earth?

Break

I wanted to let you all know that I will be taking a small break from blogging. Blogging for me has been a wonderful outlet and I love sharing my life with all of you but currently there are some things going on in my life that require all of my attention. I don't care to share all the details right now but please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I could really use them. Also if you could please pray for Hubs right now. Thank you all so much and I'll promise I will be back before too long.

I haven't participated in MannLand5's Getting to Know You Sunday in a while so I decided today was the day to get back on track. Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend so far!

Shrimpboil

One of the nights that we were at the beach we met up with some of my co-workers and had a shrimpboil. The food was delicious!
Momma and I after we had stuffed our faces with shrimp, corn, and red potatoes.
Me, my dad, Susie, and Lindsey. We all teach together.

Susie is our other mother. She is so cool to hang out with even if everyone does think we're mother and daughters.

Back to the Beach

I am headed back to the beach for the weekend. Mom and I are leaving early this morning and will be meeting all my aunts, cousins, and grandmother down there. I'll miss Hubs but it will be great to be back laying out by the ocean and spending time with all the women in my family.

Beach Week

I'm finally going to share some of the pics from our beach vacation last week. I've already shared all the 4th of July photos but here are a few from the rest of our vacation.
Hubs and his mom. I think he looks like her. Still not sure where he got all his height from since his dad is shorter then his mom.

I spent a good bit of my time in this hot tub.

Hubs found a chair that fits him.
Lanie and Hubs swimming.

Hubs making friends.

Umm not sure.

No, we did not do this on purpose. It just always seems to happen. We have to stop shopping together.

After a day on the beach.

Wednesday night momma and I went to the Palace theater to see The All-American Trailer Park Musical. It was hilarous. Does anyone else think that I look like the attack of the 50 foot woman in this picture?

Another day by the ocean.

Going out to dinner.

Eli and Hubs at dinner.

Daddy, momma, and I
Lanie getting ready to do the bungee jump at the mall.

Sand, Dancing, and Fireworks

Hubs and I spent the 4th of July at the beach with both our families like we normally do.

That night we watched the fireworks from the gold cart.

The kids loved them. Not sure what Eli was doing in this picture.

We spent the entire day at the beach. Eli was pooped out.

I picked this bikini up at WalMart for $5.00 a piece. The bottoms match the top.

We shagged on the beach.

We played in the ocean.

I love this picture of Eli and Hubs.

We played in the sand.

We relaxed in the shade.

We sunbathed.

We played cornhole.
It was a perfect 4th of July. There is nothing better then being able to spend the holidays with the ones that you love the most.

Do I live under a rock?

Because I just watched Sex and the City for the first time. And I'm talking about the first movie here. Where have I been? I loved it. It was so funny and witty and I loved the fashion. Plus it really made me want to pack my bags and head to New York. I plan on watching the second one as soon as I can get my hands on it. I cannot believe that I have been missing out on this. I do have one question... was the show as good as the movie?

Honey, I'm Home

We have finally made it home!
We had a wonderful and very relaxing 10 days at the beach but it is always good to be home.
I will be posting pictures soon.

The Good and The Just Plain Horrible

I thought I would share some books I've read since my summer vacation has started.

I actually just finished this book last night. It is not the first Barbara Delinsky book that I've read and I have enjoyed all of hers so far. This book is about a widow who ends up pregnant so the three women that live beside her all start to worry that one of their husbands must be the father. While it was predictable it was still a pretty good book.

DO NOT WASTE A MINUTE OF YOUR LIFE ON THIS BOOK!!! It really was that bad. I couldn't finish it. I am being completely honest when I say that this was the worst book I have ever tried to read.

I have become such a big fan of Diane Chamberlain. After reading The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes I decided to check out a few of her other books. Summer's Child is the only one I've read so far but I loved it. She is such a great story teller. If you haven't checked out anything by her yet, please do.

Oldtimers Softball

The first week in June I hosted the Inaugural BCHS Oldtimers Game. Actually I as the softball coach at the high school hosted it. Since I graduated and played at the same school I was part of the action. It was a blast and we are already looking forward to next year. There are lots of pictures so I'll try to be short with words.

We played 2 games and we (the gold team) won both of them. Everyone was really sore afterwards but it was a ton of fun. And most of us hadn't lost a step since high school.
